Nursery
In Nursery, children learn through a carefully planned balance of play-based activities, adult-led experiences and meaningful interactions. Through these experiences, they develop key skills in communication and language, early literacy and mathematics, understanding the world around them, and building positive relationships with others.
Children learn best when they are actively involved in their learning. Throughout the year, your child will be encouraged to explore, investigate, question, observe, listen, talk, create and communicate. These opportunities help to foster curiosity, independence and confidence as they develop new knowledge and skills.
Our classroom environment has been carefully designed to reflect this approach to learning. We provide a stimulating, engaging and welcoming space where children can follow their interests, make choices and learn through hands-on experiences. Resources are thoughtfully organised and accessible, encouraging children to become independent learners who can explore, discover and problem-solve for themselves. Areas such as the role-play corner, construction area, creative workshop, reading nook, small world play and investigation stations provide rich opportunities for learning across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Play is at the heart of everything we do. Through play, children learn to solve problems, think creatively, work collaboratively and make sense of the world around them. Our staff carefully observe children's interests and use these to plan exciting learning opportunities that inspire and challenge them to take the next steps in their development.
Learning extends beyond the classroom into our outdoor environment, which is viewed as an extension of the Nursery itself. Children enjoy a wide range of experiences using resources such as sand, water, paint, natural materials, mud kitchens and outdoor construction equipment. These experiences encourage exploration, creativity, physical development and a love of learning.
As a result, Nursery can sometimes be a little messy! We encourage children to fully engage in their learning and explore with confidence, so please ensure your child comes to Nursery wearing comfortable clothing suitable for active play and outdoor learning in all weather conditions. You may find that they return home with a few signs of their busy, productive and enjoyable day of learning.
