Governance

The Governing Body at The Drive Primary School plays a key role in helping oversee the strategic direction of the school and works in partnership with the Head teacher and Senior Management Team looking at how it should best develop and improve. The main aim of a Governing body is to ensure the delivery of a high standard of education for all pupils in its care.  This is done by reviewing and agreeing policies, setting targets and priorities and monitoring, and reviewing aims and objectives.  The governing body has the following core strategic functions:

  • Setting the vision, values, and strategic direction for the school.
  • Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, the performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is spent well.

Further information about the structure and responsibilities of the Governing Body and its committees can be found in the Terms of Reference for Committees document (found below).
