School Closure

Yesterday it was announced that schools across the country will close on Friday 20th March until further notice.

It was also announced that schools will still be open for the children of key workers and some vulnerable pupils.

As of yet, I do not have any definitive detail about which families this will apply to or whether it means all school buildings will remain open.

I am also aware that many of you will feel concerned about your child’s education and that you may have many questions.

We have prepared for this possibility and will send home school packs out today for every child. Parents and Carers of children who are already self-isolating will be able to pick these up from school on Friday after 10am or alternatively arrange for a family friend to pick them up.

When we have further information about key workers, I will be in touch.

When I know what this all means for The Drive Community Primary School, I will be in touch.

The staff, the governors and I are aware that you may feel anxious and confused about the current situation. I promise we will keep you informed and will update our website regularly.

As usual, I will be on our yard this morning to welcome your child into our school. If you have any questions ask me then. If your child is self-isolating, then please let them know we are thinking of them.

These are uncertain times but I promise to offer you certainty when I can. I know you have many ways of sharing this with other parents so please do. We are stronger together and you have a part to play.

Take care and stay safe.

God Bless.
