Supervised Toothbrushing Programme

At Nursery, we are proud to take part in the Supervised Toothbrushing Programme, helping children to develop healthy oral hygiene habits from an early age. Children who attend full-day sessions take part in the programme each day as part of their nursery routine.

Each child is provided with their own labelled toothbrush and uses fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth under the supervision of trained staff. Toothbrushes are stored hygienically and replaced regularly to ensure high standards of cleanliness.

The programme supports children in learning the importance of brushing their teeth correctly and helps to strengthen teeth and reduce the risk of tooth decay. Good oral health is essential for a child's overall wellbeing and can positively impact their ability to eat, sleep, speak, play and socialise with others.

Please note that participation in the programme at nursery does not replace brushing at home. Children should continue to brush their teeth twice a day, including before bedtime, and attend regular dental check-ups.

Audit Feedback 2025

We are delighted to have received excellent feedback following the 2025 Toothbrushing Programme audit:

"I am writing to express my gratitude for your remarkable participation in our supervised toothbrushing programme. Your dedication and enthusiasm have been invaluable in making this initiative a success. The success of this initiative would not have been possible without your hard work and passion for oral health education. We are lucky to have had such a dedicated individual like yourself on the team."

We are proud of our Nursery team's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting children in developing positive habits that will benefit them for years to come.
