Young Carers

Young Carer School Lead

Mrs Cuthbertson

What is a young carer?

A young carer is someone under 18 who cares for another person - picks up mum’s prescription, dresses dad, takes their little sister to school. Life is demanding. But they still have to study for exams, look after themselves, and not lose sight of their dreams.

Supporting young carers

Young carers are children who look after a friend or family member. Their extra responsibilities often mean they miss out on school and hanging out with friends.

At The Drive Primary we are committed to identifying and providing support for our children who are young carers.

If you think your child could be a young carer, you know someone who might be or you would simply like to talk about this please come and see Mrs Cuthbertson.
