At The Drive Primary School, we follow the statutory guidance from the National Curriculum for Mathematics. We work alongside Gateshead Authority to support the delivery of mathematics and follow the planning from White Rose Maths, supplemented with other resources to ensure our children become confident in fluency, reasoning and enjoy Maths problem solving and investigations.
Assessment
Children are assessed daily through the marking of work, observations, teacher and pupil feedback, children’s own self-assessment and through peer assessment. Children in Years 3,4 and 5 will be assessed termly on place value, addition and subtraction and division and multiplication. Children in Year 1 are assessed half-termly on their understanding of number, addition and subtraction according to the Number Sense Programme. Children in Years 2 and 6 sit the National Curriculum SAT Tests towards the end of the academic year and are tested termly on previous SAT tests to measure their progress towards meeting end of key stage requirements.
