Nursery Home Learning W/C 29.6.20

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. The focus for this block of home learning is going to be all about starting school. In Nursery, we would be preparing the children for Reception, and I thought it would be a nice idea for you to try some of the work we would have been doing at home. There are lots of jobs for you to complete together!

Thank you,

Mrs Jackson and Miss Johnson

Nursery Work Packs 20.4.20

Hello! This is a start of a new term, and this term I was planning on teaching lots of activities about the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. I have included a 'plan' which is similar to what I would use in school. Each box has suggestions for home learning. All the resources you need have been uploaded onto this page. I would pick 1 or 2 to do a day, and work your way through them.

Mrs Jackson and Miss Johnson continue to miss you all lots, and we hope everyone at home is safe and well. We can't wait to see you again! If you do any work, or have anything you want to share then please do it on our new school Facebook page.

For now take care,

Mrs Jackson x

Maths; Learning all about Shape!

Oxford Reading Tree has some great online resources to with learning about 2D shapes. There are two games you can play, and I have attached them below. Can you name the shapes?

Phase 1 Phonics- initial sound matching.

Can you match the picture to the sound? This is a great resource to play at home! Can you think of the sounds at the start of different words? What sounds are in your name?

Communication and Language Development; 'Chicken Licken'

This story is a classic! Watch the story on the video link below, then talk about the story with your family. Can you act out the story? Who are the key characters in the story?

After you have done that, make a story map of the story. A story make is when you talk about all of the important parts of the story, retelling it. You draw them down, in order, a bit like a map!  I have attached some examples for you.

Easter Egg Rice Art!

Have you ever dyed rice before? It's really easy to do and makes a product that can be used in many different ways. All you need is a few cups of rice, food dye/ paint and a tray. First, put the rice in a bowl and add a small amount of food dye or paint. It needs to be fairly dry, so don't add too much! Mix the rice up until you have covered every grain. Tip the mixture out onto a flat tray and leave it to dry. (I find overnight is best!) Please note- this product is not to be eaten!

Once it is dry, you can play with it! The rice can be used in many different ways. One suggestion I have is to make Easter crafts with it. You could make an Easter decoration, like the one I have attached below in pictures. If you make one, don't forget to take a picture to show us!

Fine Motor Skill Development

It is really important we practice this at home. It is going to help us to become fantastic writers! There are lots of ways we can do this, and I have attached an activity below. Get your child to use their fingers to pick up the objects. If you don't have buttons, you could coins, or even small stones.

W/C 23/3/20

Below I have attached some Home Learning ideas that you could complete with your child. It would be a good idea to complete one everyday! Hope your all well, and I will keep posting home learning ideas on this website.

Thank you,

Mrs Jackson
